01 th. Dec. 2021 Fundamental Rights and Poverty in Erdőhorváti

Erdohorvati
Hungary 3935 Erdőhorváti Kassai út.

A cross-border designated pilgrimage route, the St. Elizabeth Road passes through in the village of Erdőhorváti in Hungary. Elizabeth von Thüringen was a patron of the poor, falsely accused people and exiles. In 2019, pilgrims passing through the village prayed for the eradication of poverty in Erdőhorváti, in the courtyard of the village museum, followed by a joint photo in front of the closed Erdőhorváti school.

Today, the situation of poverty in Erdőhorváti has become more and more critical, which justifies humanitarian intervention. People live in houses where there is no electricity, no drinking water and no heating. Drinking water wells in public areas have been shut down.
Sometimes the income is 0 HUF, for those whom the government office terminates the right to benefits and thus also the right to health care. Homelessness is punished by law everywhere Hungary.
The fundamental rights of the poorest can be violated in the proceedings of the authority. SASLA-NGO supports humanitarian intervention against inappropriate decisions by the Government Office. There are cases, in which the client was removed from the register on untrue grounds and ordered to repay his monthly benefits. Several current government agency decisions are awaiting clarification before the court. A resident of Hajdú-Bihar County hotspot station in SASLA-NGO still has an emergency situation following the decisions of the government office.

The right to appropriate administration includes the right of everyone to be heard, before any individual measure which would adversely affect him or her.

 2012 / C 326/02 Article 41 (2) (a)

The lack of enforcement of this declared fundamental right opens the door in Hungary for the government office to make an unfavorable decision against the client on false grounds.
